Hey everyone...last Saturday was really fun. Big time thanks to everyone who helped make that show so much fun. I'm hoping that attending our shows is as much fun as putting them on. Dirty Side Down has been a band for about 6 years now and the continued support not only to DSD but the 80's metal genre is blowing me away. Columbus rocks...no doubt about it. There's no place I'd rather be. The music scene apparently is still alive thanks to all of you!!

Sean, thank sooooooo much for all the kind words. You are right...glam 80's is not really what we are. We do have an extensive history with glam metal but we grew out of that when we were 22 years old. Now it's more about paying homage to some of the real metal masters that seem almost forgotten....mainly Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Randy Rhoads era Ozzy, and old Metallica. It's more like denim and leather metal with an arena concert feel. If you find the time...take a look at Judas Priests' DVD "Rising In The East". The sound and look found in that video is what we are striving for. Unfortunately, that kind of concert experience is very hard to replicate in a bar but we do what we can. Thanks again for all the kind words. Hope to see you again soon.

Saw you guys twice in the last 2 wks. Once at Nikki's and then @ Slapsy's. Each time the doorman has called you guys '80's glam metal. While you pay a little bit of homage to that era, you by no means fit the bill of the late "80's hair metal scene. I love the fact that you play all of the classic Priest, Maiden, Ozzy, Ac/Dc, Dio, Kiss, RATT, etc. Hearing some Fastway and Quiet Riot is also good thing. You guys play with conviction and with out all the tongue and cheek BS that sometimes makes metal the butt of the jokes. When done right it is an awesome form of music. Whiskey Dicks: I think that place could be a killer place to play and if they just made a few adjustments, it would be a very successfull venue. I had so much fun playing that I kind of forget how much of a pain the day was in total. In short, I agree with everyone else in the band, Mary, Brian and company saved the day and we shouldn't forget the guys from No Apologies. They hung out until the end. Honorable mentions also go out to Dave Manring from Stare North and Len Damico from The Brighton Blues Band. Last but not least, our faithfull Ratt-N-Roll friend, Victoria made it out as well. Thank GOD Mary and Brian and the crew came out to Whiskey Dick's Saturday or that gig would have completely sucked ass. I hate that fucking bar, just for the record. When I played there years ago in other bands, it was the same screwed up arrangements as always. Who schedules a battle of the bands the same night as, and leading right up to, a regular show with two bands you are PAYING? Yeah let's fill the place with underage pepsi drinkers when we COULD be selling overpriced alcohol to over 21-ers. I think maybe the management at WD's needs some business classes. I cannot fucking WAIT to play Slapsy's, gigs like this one make you really treasure your friends and the properly managed joints that know how to run things, Matt at Slapsy's rules!

THANKS to everyone for the support!!! I am finally seeing some improvement in the last couple of days. Keith can get up and down all by his big self again! He still cannot walk without crutches but all your well wishes are helping. He had a set back this weekend with an allergic reaction to a med but hopefully it will get worked out Monday and he will be able to get out on Tuesday. Hi guys, Brian and I saw Keith tonight. He was sleeping so we went to the lobby, but he woke up by the time we went back. He said he can't sleep for very long at a time. He did seem in good spirits, and we were pleased to meet some family members who were there. We brought him a "No lying in bed" sign to match the signs on "What is that", but it hurt him to laugh! He told us to tell everyone hi! Hurry back Keith!!

Our drummer, Kieth, is in the hostpital right now fighting a Staph infection. Please keep him and his family in your prayers. We have talked to Kieth and he is doing okay. It looks like he will be in the hospital for at least the next week, maybe two.
We talked about it, and decided to get a fill-in for our upcoming shows. Danny Boyd of Moo Pigface studio's will be beating the skins for us. Please help us welcome Danny to the DSD fold. We have been practicing our butts off to give you the DSD show you know and love.

I know you have no idea about the joke behind the figgy pudding BUT....I(this is Dave typing) played in a band long ago and we used to joke online about it's been xxxx amount of days since Christmas and we have yet to receive our figgy pudding. It was kind of a running joke but NO ONE has ever actually brought us figgy pudding until you came along. MANY people have heard the joke and many people have had the opportunity to bring us figgy pudding but YOU are the only one to actually follow through. For that I thank you a ton. While the Booger Board wars continue, it has become apparent in the early days of the conflict that Keith is leading the charge with a sigificant entry. With winter coming on, is it any wonder that the entries at hand bear significantly more disgust and morose appearance than their summer predecessors? However, rumours abound that back in the day, (however unlikely it may seem,) Super Dave C was, in no uncertain terms, clearly the frontrunner and the man to beat in the wars of nasal discharge. I am curious to see who will bask in the glorious light of total victory in this installment of..."The Booger Board War". Thanks be to all, praises to the victors, and there will be much rejoicing and consuming of the grog and fair maiden wenches upon which to feast. Arrgh laddies. Woe be to those faint of heart who stand and gaze upon the gruesome entries of the day. Yet to those strong of constitution, and possors of the fortitude gallant, to the victors belong the spoils. Let the war begin!

Hey Mary, THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE FIGGY PUDDING!! Currently, the pudding is occupying a small space on the top shelf in my fridge. It was photographed earlier today and will make an appearance on this website sometime before Christmas in the "WHAT IS THAT" section of our photo viewer. It will also be part of the halftime snack today and I'll be thinking of you the entire time. Like I said last night....I've been complaining about figgy pudding for years and no one has ever provided me with any. I've even treatened to not leave until I got some. Greetings. I just wanted to let everyone know that Dirty Side Down had a great time last Friday. The stage wasn’t the best of setups but I’m really glad we made the best of it. Poor Todd, I felt like he was stuck in the corner all night. I also wanted to thank everyone for coming out and you know how you are. I don’t dare list everyone individually. Thanks also goes out to Scott Lafferty, Mean Dog Music, and big thanks go out to Jo Jo Fastrich for driving all the way from Cincinnati to run sound for us that night. Don’t forget, we are playing Slapsy Maxies this Friday. It’s the night before the Ohio State vs. Michigan game so even though Ohio State stumbled yesterday, there’s still plenty of reason to get your “hate Michigan” on at Slapsy’s. Oh and for all you haters out there(Jill/Julie)…GO BENGALS.

I cannot commit to running lights at every show for you guys, but definately mark me down if it is possible. You guys rock and I was very excited about being a part of that show. I know it wasnt Nationwide Arena, but I have learned the music is more important than the venue. Scott and the spotlight added a ton to that show. I hope the video showed how cool that was. Thanks to all who showed up to Slapy's. I know people went to great lengths to see us. I know some people who had hand surgery earlier in the day and still managed to not only come out, but stayed the whole night. I also know other's who drove a LONG way to come see us. With that in mind, DSD owe's a big thanks to all who rocked with us and we apologize for the technical problems early in the evening. I hope everyone had a great time. Lay it on the Line or Fight The Good Fight would probably be a better pick for DSD, but I like a LOT of Triumph's stuff, including Magic Power. I saw them when I was in JUNIOR HIGH, they came here to the Agora and opened for someone...April Wine I think. And no one knew who Triumph were, their claim to fame was they did a killer cover of Rocky Mountain Way. Who knew then that they would take off?

No doubt Triumph had a huge effect on me growing up. Rik Emmett was a very telented singer/guitarist/song writer. I'd love to do some Triumph!! Bring it up to us tomorrow night. We'll see what the rest of the guys have to say. I know a bunch of Triumph on guitar and would love to play some for ya.

Well what can I say except Lucky's was an all-out assault! What a great gig that was, Robert big thansk for setting that up - all you guys who are fans of this band continue to humble me with your enthusiasm and appreciation for the music. Our goal is to please you, get you to the shows, and nothing more. The real "musicians" in the band, Dave-Finger-Todd and Keith, work hard as hell every week to get the music tight, I feel priviledged to have the easy job of just belting them out. This is what real fans are about, one person runs to get me a power supply, another cleans up after an accident, someone runs lights at shows, someone hangs flyers, etc - this is just too cool and it just feels great to bond with so many of you who share the love of this music like the 5 of us. Vickie you probably saved my laptop with your swift reaction to the spilled beer, it is OK now except that it's a little sticky, smells like old Budweiser... LOL as somehow I think it should! I don't know who that guy was but nobody hold it aganst him, this stuff happens in rock and roll. Who would have thought 20 years ago laptops and metal would rely on each other anyway LOL. Keith is hooking me up with a cover so it doesn't happen again. Love to all you DSD faithful and I hope you guys PACK Slapsy's on the 28th cause that night's party is for YOU ALL! You guys rock! The Luckys show was just another in a long list of really good performances. I brought my brother, Studly (John), out for the first time to see you all play. He was very impressed with how close you guys come to playing the songs as they are recorded. We sat and talked on more than a few songs about how the guitar, bass, vocals, or drums follow the recordings to a "T". Dave... Your right about there not being enough time between sets to hang out and talk to everyone. But I am pretty happy just to be back in touch with you all and have the ability to hang around and see you all once in a while. See you all soon!

The bands that we play w/ such as Jani Lane and Great White do promote us, and they do so their entire set. Not only did we get to play for our fans but theirs as well - who will now be ours. During their entire set our name is on stage. They could easily, and rightly so, ask to have the front drum head(s) removed. As a matter of fact that is a question, out of respect for their show, that is always asked of the headliner - "do you want us to remove or switch the heads". For this last show we had an amazing amount of exposure, even on the evening news. We mention bands as a professional courtesy and not an obligation we feel should be verbally reciprocated. Rick has done a great job in promoting our band. After seeing us once he's given us shows with two national acts - I don't recall him doing that for anyone in the many years I've known him- and hopefully more to come. And, while he does mention us on the radio - which I heard all week long in the run up, I'd take the warmups for a national act over radio pimping any day of the week. We couldn't rightly ask for more than what we've earned at this point. And I think we've be given an incredible amount of exposure and promotion from 100's of people, yourself included, in their own way. Evil we look forward to seeing you at the Bucyrus show. We got the gig by playing for the Marion area Harley riders assoc. and I expect a similar kick ass crowd in Bucyrus. Riders are always some of the funnest and partyingest people to play for and I'm amped for that show.

Friday was a great night, and honestly a dream come true. Great White has been a favorite of mine since the first time I heard "Stick it " and "Down on your knees". Being able to share the stage was those guys is something I'll be able to talk about for years to come. In all I think all the bands that played that evening maid it well worth the $20 people paid. I know if I would have paid for that ticket I would have left very satisfied. It's really never about who put on a better show but did everyone make it worth the price to the fans. I think we all did that and we all have a lot to be proud of. That crowd was deep and rabid - all night long and that's why rock -n- roll is rock- n- roll.

Your all welcome for my help on Friday. I wouldn’t be there unless I enjoyed it. And let me tell you, Friday was awesome. Setting up and taking down drums is fun. Loading and unloading the truck is fun. Running lights for some kick ass rock-N-roll is a rush. Finger will tell you, unloading a couple of semi’s into an arena for a 4 day gospel show is just that. WORK! DSD at the Alrosa Villa is FUN! You guys are great to work with. The song selection is perfect. Your preparation and drive to execute the songs as they were originally written makes it extremely enjoyable. One last thing… Lets plug a bomb into everyones @*%! Udo rules! I always play Ride The Lightning naked in more ways than one. I actually have a wire I twist around the leg of my chair, then I stick the other end into the wall. I then sit myself naked upon the chair and truly "Ride The Lightning".

80's or heavy metal?????? My first intuition says do what got us here. There are times that I love the 80's hair metal stuff but there's absolutely no substitute for Iron Maiden or Judas Priest cranked up and played live. I wonder how many young people have been to an actual Judas Preist or Iron Maiden show when they were at their peak? My only hope is that we can give them a glimpse of what it must have been like. Hearing Preist and Maiden on CD is one thing....seeing it performed live is another. With that in mind, in the words of the president, "stay the course".

You guys watch the videos, you pay attention to the crowds each time you play out, you hear what the fans are saying and how they react to each song you play... with that in mind play what the crowd goes nuts about. Play what YOU guys want to play, what really pumps you up! Then the crowd will be pumped too, we do feed off your emotions. You also can mix it up a bit with Heavy and Hair.

Yes Bill, I agree, I love hanging out with all of you guys. Usually, the following day my chest is sore from laughing. I also agree that being able to go home after shows and sleep in my own bed is awesome. I used to get so sick of kicking people out of our hotel at 5:00 am. Glad we don't have to do that anymore. Eating real food of course is a plus. Thanks for everything Bill. By the way, we pulled the ampline out of the truck as well as the spot light and it all still works. Look for it at our Marion bike rally show. Now all we need are some pyrotechnics and some ACL's!!!

What a great time we had at Cardo's despite all the BS! The sound man sucked pretty bad but like the troopers you guys always are, you pulled us through and we won over hopefully some more long time big f**kin metal head Chilicothe fans! I thought jani Lane's band did a great job too, there are still a lot of Warrant fans out there and we really appreciate Jani asking for us on these shows. Hats off to Cat, Dan and all the cool folks running Cardo's, great venue and we hope to get back in there soon and rock out all night next time. PEACE!

Yo all! Glad to say I am back and recovering from my surgery, all went well and I hope to be back in singng form in a week or two. While we have this break I'm trying to get caught up on posting some more pics on the web (so send em to me if you have any!) and get our promo pack together to try and nail some more gigs and maybe get a sponsorship for the band. So anyone that has any contacts at any number of fine alcohol or gear related corporate sponsors, we'd love the help and support! Gentlemen. The kickstand show was pretty cool. I know Keith had a monitor issue, but you need to look past that. I though you guys were pretty tight even with the issue. I noticed a few things off, but not as much as I would think would happen when the drummer cant hear anything he needs to hear. You guys kick ass. You all love the music and it shows. Seriously. I want to go to Cardo's with you if I am allowed. I dont have a hall pass yet, but am assuming it isnt going to be a problem. I would love to go to the biker rally in Marion too if I can swing it. Dont hold your breath. But... You guys play MY music and it would be great.

It's a show we wont soon forget - all of you in the crowd were simply amazing and not enough can be said about how important you are to each shows' environment and success. We went into that show with high hopes and a huge desire to put on our best show to date. And while we've only played about ten shows together as this group, Friday was, w/out a doubt, our favorite and we really have our fans, old and new, to thank. You guys rock!!!! I had a blast. The only bad thing about running lights is that you cant enjoy the show. You cant watch the show, your planning your next move, and looking at the lighting board. But its all good. I would give myself a grade of "C" on that show without watching it. I havent run lights in about 5 years. I would have been able to provide a much better show if I could have listened to a rehearsal prior to, either in person, or a CD. Do you guys have a CD recorder? I wont run lights at every show I go to, but it is something to keep in mind for the future. Let me just say it again. You guys rock!!!!!! I had a lot of fun running lights again with you all! I wont be able to make it this week. Have a great show though!

Exactly Dave! I understand the women are in charge. My wife is the boss of me and everything. I dont have a problem agreeing to that. The $10k system is a worst case scenerio for a really nice system. With ebay purchases, and not buying everything at once, I think the amount will be lower. My wife would KILL me if I spent $10k. But I dont see anything wrong with spending a little here and there until it gets built up. It is a hobby. Just like playing guitar, or drums. You dont buy all of your guitars, amps, speaker cabinets, and effects at once. But over time, you get what you want. I dont need to go on the road. I like sleeping in my own bed at night. But what I would LOVE to do is run lights for a band that plays the kind of music I listen to. And its full circle for me. Petty Theft is the entire reason why I have done the things I have done in my life connected with the music business. I would just get a big kick out of doing that again. You cant fault a guy for trying can you?
And you will all be happy to know that I wiped the residue off my lips!

Pathetic yes. But the guy was trying and to stick up for him, he really didnt have much to work with. That is always a problem. If you dont have much to work with, your much better off just leaving them on and not flashing them every minute of every single song in a set. You know, make a little ambience if you can! $10k sounds like a lot for lights, but I guarantee you it would ROCK! That includes some moving lights which could be programmed and do some really cool effects with. ACL's are a given! Dave, if there is one cool lighting effect you could remember, that is the one! Audience blinders, and in par cans to give some finger rays of light. I have already been on ebay looking at prices for the other items I need to complete a "Killer" club system. Give me a call anytime (or email me).
I saw the other post about Molly Hatchet and Bad Company. I need to throw one other idea in the ring. Dio - Rainbow in the Dark. Dont ask me how you get around the keyboard at the beginning. Thanks to all the great headbangers who made Saturday's show at Clancy's such a blast for us! Despite all the equipment problems you guys really stuck in there with us and we appreciate it. All in the name of METAL!!!
Special thanks to DIM for sharing the bill and affording us the opportunity to play for a new group of Delaware fans who we hope will jump on the dirty bandwagon. This is YOUR band, not ours, we just play the shit.
Looking forward to hearing how the recordings came out so we can get em up here on the website, they should be coming soon.
Reminder that with spring coming, we'll be looking to grab some headliner spots soon, and we'll be expanding our arsenal of kickass old school metal for you... so all you DSD faithful tell us the songs you wanna hear that will get you stoked and out to the gigs and we'll learn em for you.

In my line of business as a corporate dweeb I truly enjoy the sights and sounds of this lovely mixture of boys and their instruments. I do think DSD is in for a great 2007 if only because they now have more than one person who signed their guestbook, besides the big (but beautiful) sister of the lead singer. Now that's progress. I am so proud of Danny and his aspirations to become the next Chris Daughtry, it does a sister's heart good to see you soar above the clouds with your voice in tune and your leather vest all shiny. Keep up the good work and keep making pretty musical sounds. Maybe someday you will have all of the fame and fortune you dreamed of back when you used to air guitar to REO Speedwagon's "I'm going to keep on loving you". YEAH REO!

I've known Danny, a.k.a. Dan (or Thane, jeesh, or whatever he calls himself these days) for going on 44 years now, he occupied my mother's womb shortly after I did so we come from the same place but didn't end up going to the same place. Danny is short-tempered and a bit of a liar so he fits in perfectly with this band. Our father doesn't like him and neither does our mother really so his pent up anger is fuel for singing metal crap. Oh, I used to listen to metal but Barry Manilow caught my ears when I was but a girl so my heart goes that direction. Loud guitars hurt me so I go see his band just so I can get my ears to go further deaf and my age to really become apparent, ugh! Glad he has found an outlet for his anger now and I sincerely hope this means that he will stop throwing rocks at my head and giving me concussions that I can no longer recover from as easily. Thanks Danny and good luck with your new hobby, I mean band. Kisses, your sissy...the dip
